Who is Izzy, and why is she so hungry?

Howdy!
I am Izzy and I live in the beautiful Illawarra region of NSW.
Originally from the Blue Mountains I was really lucky to grow up in a family and location where healthy food was an understated part of life. My parents and wider village exposed me to a wide variety of flavours and dishes. I was encouraged to learn to cook early on and looking back this gave me a real sense of purpose to building strong connections between food and family.
In my 20’s I met and married an equally Hungry human who was always very curious about the best way to fuel a healthy body. Together we have always been passionate about flavorsome and healthy food that is cooked with love and spent most of our weekends wining and dining in Sydney and abroad. Eventually after a few years of fun and travel we started a family and moved to the Illawarra.

It was once I began to learn more about Plant Based eating and the growing links between health outcomes, that my passion for food and healthy eating really exploded. In 2022 I took up studying Health Science majoring in nutrition subjects. Through study it became evident that I had a keen interest in how, why and what people ate and wanted to be part of helping people have a healthier lifelong relationship with food to better the health of themselves and their families.

Very Hungry Nutrition is my outlet to share content surrounding food, lifestyle and community through my studies and through my profession as a Health Promotion Officer with Healthy Cities Australia.
Currently I am very privileged to be working on the #Schoollunchproject that is being run at Berkely Public School, which aims to provide nutritious home-style cooked meals for the absolutely gorgeous kids in year 1. To follow along with this Pilot project check out the Instagram and stayed tuned to the blog.
